Today's blog features guest writer and Class of 2025 Senior Crew member, Marissa. I could tell you about how seniors love the senior portrait experience I offer, but I think it's even better when you can hear directly from them! Big hugs and thank you to Marissa!
I attend Eastview High School in Apple Valley. I decided to have Tracy Caffrey as my senior photographer because my older sister took photos with her. I loved all of my sister’s photos and thought that they looked amazing. The photos and backgrounds really reflected who my sister was and I wanted that same look for mine too. Also, my sister loved her experience and I knew I would too.
When I saw my reveal slideshow I was ecstatic. I was slightly nervous beforehand that I wouldn’t like how I was smiling or how my hair looked in the photos but when she started my Reveal slideshow they looked absolutely amazing. I was so happy to have gotten so many photos that reflected who I was and highlighted my features beautifully. My parents as well were super happy to have photos that they thought looked really good too. They really liked all of the closeup senior pictures while I liked the farther away ones.
I would recommend Tracy Caffrey to other seniors because she does such a good job at prepping you for your senior session as well as incorporating what you want in. She makes sure that your session goes smoothly and is what you truly want and not just what she or your parents think will look good. In addition, Tracy does an amazing job of guiding you through poses and making sure you are comfortable with what you are doing. Even when something feels odd she will reassure you that it is going to turn out looking different than you think, and she’s right! This is why I would say she is one of the best senior photographers.
My favorite part of the senior session was when I was in a ditch taking pictures with these brilliant purple flowers. I loved that part of the session because it really highlighted how creative and spontaneous Tracy is while finding backdrops. We were originally at Whitetail Woods taking photos because I had said that I wanted flowers and nature in my pictures. On the way to the park, Tracy spotted the flowers in the ditch, so we stopped there and she laid down a blanket that I was able to sit on so I didn’t get any ticks or thistles on me. The photos that we got there turned out amazing and they are some of my favorite ones.
Thank you so much for sharing Marissa!
She is absolutely right. Sometimes the most cherished images aren’t the ones we meticulously plan—they’re the ones that unfold organically during the session. As we work through the ideas and locations we’ve carefully prepared, a glimmer of light or an unexpected backdrop can spark inspiration, leading to moments that exceed our original vision. While having a plan is essential, there’s always space for spontaneity and creativity to shine through.
Here are a few more of Marissa's images that she included in her gorgeous 10x10 Signature Album.
Q&A with Marissa, Eastview High School Senior Pictures
What are you looking forward to your senior year?
I am looking forward to all of my lasts. My last swim meet, my last prom, my last hoco, etc.
What advice do you have for underclassmen?
Keep up your work ethic and don’t get caught up in all of the drama going on between everyone.
Through out your schooling, which teacher made the most impact on you and why? What subject/grade did they teach and at which school?
The teacher that made the biggest impact on me was probably my math teacher Mr. Haugh. He made a big impact because he was personable and made a lot of jokes, but also taught really well and knew how to help out when needed. He made sure that I was always caught up with what needed to be done and helped me out when it was clear that I was struggling. He teaches at Eastview High School, and teaches math for a bunch of different grades.
How did you hear about the Senior Crew? Why did you apply? How do you feel about the experience you've had?
I heard about the Senior Crew from my mom. I applied because it seemed like a fun opportunity to meet people and take cute pictures. I have loved my experience so far because it’s been fun to try new things and dress up.
What do your future plans after graduation include?
I am planning to go to college and possible study engineering or veterinary science.
