Feel Comfortable for Your Senior Pictures

Today's blog features guest writer and Class of 2025 Senior Crew member, Megan. Megan is the second sibling in this family I've had the honor of photographing. I always feel so blessed when a family chooses me again for their senior's portrait experience. I could tell you about how I am able to help seniors feel more comfortable in front of the camera but I think it's even better when you can hear straight from them. Thank you, Megan, for putting it all in your own words.

I attend the School of Environmental Studies and Rosemount (for choir). I wanted to pick Tracy Caffrey Photography for my senior session because my sister and many of my friends also picked her for their sessions. Tracy makes taking your senior pictures really comfortable and makes sure your pictures represent who you are. Whenever people get their pictures with Tracy they always speak highly of her and come out of their session feeling confident and loving their final photos.

Before my senior session I was honestly a little nervous. I didn’t really know what to expect or if I was even going to enjoy the shoot. However, once I arrived at my location and got in front of the camera I felt much more relaxed and had a ton of fun!

My favorite part of my senior session was getting to explore my location with Tracy and find cool spots to take photos. For my session we went to the Conservatory at Como Zoo. It was so fun to look around the area and find locations that had different vibes and fit with all my outfits.

Tracy helped me prepare for my senior pictures with the consultation we had beforehand. In the consultation we discussed the outfits I would wear and the location I wanted to use. She also explained everything that we would do in our session and made sure I knew what to expect.

What surprised me about my senior session was just how fun it was. I feel like I also learned a lot about how to pose and by the end of my session I was very comfortable and I felt more confident.

My senior picture reveal was very exciting. I couldn’t wait to see how they turned out and I couldn’t have been more happy with the results. My parents felt that it was amazing to see all the fun pictures and to see how great they turned out. They also said it was a little emotional, but still very fun.

Q&A with Megan, SES School in Apple Valley Senior

What are you looking forward to your senior year?

I’m excited to put myself out there more and get to experience more freedom.

What advice do you have for underclassmen?

Don’t wait until you are a senior or an upperclassmen to participate in the things you want to.

Through out your schooling, which teacher made the most impact on you and why? What subject/grade did they teach and at which school?

My environmental science teacher that I’ve had for two years now at SES (my junior and senior year). He honestly is more than just a teacher, he also really cares for all his students and listens to what we need.

How did you hear about the Senior Crew? Why did you apply? How do you feel about the experience you've had?

I heard about the senior crew from my sister, as she was on it when she was a senior in 2021-22. I applied because it looked like something fun to involve myself in. So far, the senior crew has been really fun and I always look forward to the shoots. The girls are all really nice and supportive and the shoots have been nothing but enjoyable.

What do your future plans after graduation include?

I plan to attend a four year college/university for environmental studies. I really want to work in conservation and wildlife management.
