Senior Portraits Minneapolis | Introducing the Start of 2027 Senior Pictures

Early March brought a surprise spring snowstorm to the Minneapolis South Metro and we moved the Class of 2027 Senior Crew Kickoff Shoot up a day to get ahead of it.

If you're starting to think about senior pictures in Minneapolis or the Twin Cities, this is the season where it all begins.

Senior year has a way of arriving before you're ready for it. Kind of like a snowstorm. One minute it feels like a someday thing. Then suddenly it's right here and everything starts moving fast.

The Class of 2027 Senior Crew Kickoff Shoot

A few of the girls had never met before they walked into 8th Street Studio in Farmington. Nerves settled as we started talking and getting to know each other — and having 2026 Senior Crew member Ellie there helped guide the way. She shared what the experience has meant to her and offered a little senior wisdom to the group. By the time we wrapped up the Kickoff Shoot, they had bonded over a TV series, I had grabbed some individual shots, and we finished the afternoon with group images and a whole list of shoot ideas they came up with together.

It was the kind of afternoon that reminds me exactly why I do this.

Introducing the Class of 2027 Senior Crew

Every year I select a small group of high school juniors from across the Minneapolis and Twin Cities South Metro to be part of my Senior Crew. The 2027 Crew includes a girl from Blaine and one from Stillwater too. Senior Crew members participate in exclusive shoots throughout the year, get their own individual senior session and, more than anything, become part of a real community of seniors navigating the same season of life together.

This isn't just about photos. It's about the experience — the connections made, the confidence that builds, and the memories created along the way. It's about a small group of girls who show up for each other throughout an entire year, and walk away from senior year with something that goes far beyond a gallery of images.

Here's a little bit about the girls who were at the Kickoff shoot:

Addison — Eastview High School | Apple Valley, Minnesota Addison is a soccer player — both high school and club — and I'm so excited for her to bring that team energy to the Senior Crew.

Daly — Rosemount High School | Rosemount, Minnesota Daly is a tennis and softball player with serious competitive drive. Her family has been part of the Tracy Caffrey Photography story before. When a family trusts me with more than one senior, it genuinely means everything to me.

Grace — Blaine High School | Blaine, Minnesota Grace is a multi-sport athlete who runs track and plays tennis, and she brings a natural creative energy to everything she does.

Kate — Rosemount High School | Rosemount, Minnesota Kate is a competition cheerleader and I've actually gotten to see her compete as she was on the same team as my daughter. When Kate performs you can tell how much she loves it. Her older sister was part of a previous Senior Crew, and I am always so honored when a family chooses me again for their next senior.

Maddy — Rosemount High School | Rosemount, Minnesota Maddy is a competitive dancer who has had her eye on the Senior Crew since her freshman year. As a former dancer myself, I cannot wait to capture what she loves.

There are two more crew members who weren't able to make the kickoff - one from Stillwater and one from Farmington. We'll be doing a makeup session to bring them fully into the fold. High school schedules are crazy and I get it. That's why the Senior Crew opportunities are optional. Crew members come when they can and don't stress if they can't.

Before I ever picked up a camera, we sat together and just talked.

That's intentional. The Senior Crew isn't a shoot you show up to — it's a community you become part of. So the Kickoff starts with getting to know each other. What do they love? What are they excited about? What kind of senior pictures feel like them?

Watching the connections start to form in that room was one of my favorite moments from the whole day. I can already see this group coming together at every shoot we have ahead.

Here's what they had to say about why they joined the Senior Crew . . .

"I want the opportunity to get some extra photos in a different setting and to be able to connect with others looking forward to their senior year."

Daly

"Your photo shoots look like so much fun, and they look like such good senior year memories!"

Kate

Now Booking the Class of 2027 — July and August Are Your Window for Summer Sessions

Here's where things stand right now: May is full. June is almost full.

If you're a junior in Rosemount, Farmington, Apple Valley, Eagan, Lakeville, Prior Lake, or anywhere else in the Minneapolis and Twin Cities South Metro — and you want summer senior pictures — July and August are your window and they are now booking.

Evening sessions book out faster than anything else on my calendar. The light is beautiful, the energy is relaxed, and they are consistently the most requested time slot. Once they're gone, they're gone. I also love morning sessions. The light then is just as beautiful (if you know where to go) and it's not as hot as an evening session might be. The families who reach out early get their first choice of date and time.

Senior year gets here faster than it feels like right now. I don't want you to miss your window.

FAQ: Senior Portraits Minneapolis

When should I book my senior session if I want a summer date?

As soon as possible. May is currently full and June is nearly full for Class of 2027 bookings. July and August are the remaining prime window for summer senior portraits — especially evening sessions, which book out the fastest. If a summer date matters to you, reach out now.

What is the Senior Crew?

The Senior Crew is a small group of girls selected in their junior year to be part of something bigger than a single session. Throughout their senior year they shoot together, connect with each other, and create memories that go far beyond what happens in front of a camera. By the time they arrive for their individual session, confidence isn't something they have to think about. It's already there — and you can see it in every single image.

Do you offer senior portraits outside of Rosemount?

Yes. While I'm based in Rosemount and work with many families throughout the ISD 196 South Metro communities — including Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Eagan — I photograph seniors from across the greater Minneapolis and Twin Cities area. including Farmington, Lakeville, Prior Lake, Edina and beyond. The Class of 2027 Senior Crew include students from Blaine, and Stillwater as well. I've photographed seniors from Iowa and Wisconsin too. My sessions take place all over the Twin Cities area and locations are finalized during the Consultation based on the vibe the senior wants for their shoot.

What happens after I fill out the contact form?

I'll reach out personally. We'll talk through which session type is the right fit for your senior, what the process looks like from booking through your reveal and ordering appointment, and how to get your date reserved. There's no pressure — just a real conversation to see if we're a good fit. Most families feel taken care of from the very first message.
